In January 2014 Bottega opened the first Bottega Prosecco Bar on the Cinderella cruise ship, part of the Viking group, a shipping company operating in the Baltic Sea with a fleet of ferries and cruise ships. In spring 2015, the format was applied in Abu Dhabi (UAE), in the outdoor bar of the Intercontinental Hotel and in December 2015 in Birmingham (UK), at the Resorts World, constructed by Malaysian Genting group.
2014 – Barricaia for the grappa ageing. The company equipped a new ageing space in Pianzano. It allows the storage of 900 liters of grappa in barrels, casks and barriques.
2013 – Bottega S.p.A. On 20th March 2013 Distilleria Bottega changed its company name and became Bottega S.p.A.. Shareholdings are exclusively owned by Barbara, Sandro and Stefano Bottega.
2012 - Distilleria Bottega's 35 years. The celebration night for the company's foundation took place in Verona on March 25th 2012 during Vinitaly.
2011 – Alexander blown glass factory. After a careful renovation of the historic site in Pianzano, the new blown glass factory opens. Here the Alexander artistic bottles are produced following an ancient tradition.
2009/2011 - Amarone & Brunello. Between 2009 and 2011 Distilleria Bottega extends its wine production to Valpolicella (Veneto) and Montalcino (Tuscany). This process materializes after the acquirement and direct management of two wineries on the premises. The first one, in Pescantina (VR), produces the famous Amarone, as well as Ripasso and Recioto. The other one, in Montalcino (SI), produces Brunello, the prince of Italian wines.
2009 – New winery. The company inaugurates the new winery for the production of Prosecco and other sparkling wines. It is adjacent to the head office in Bibano.
2007 – New head office in Bibano. Distilleria Bottega moves to Bibano di Godega S. U. (TV), 50 km from Venice and a short drive from Conegliano Veneto, the capital of Prosecco and the beating heart of the grappa tradition. The head office is located in a large, 19th Century farmhouse, restored according to the more developed criteria of environmental protection, and surrounded by 10 hectares of vineyards.
2003 – Spray grappa. This grappa contained in a bottle with spraying device has been having great success. It is ideal to perfume coffee, sweets, rice dishes, crustaceans and cigars.
1995 – Fragolino. The tradition of Fragolino, recovered and developed by Distilleria Bottega, enabled the company to increase its turnover remarkably.
1992 – Cantina dei Poeti. Il Vino dei Poeti, a Prosecco sparkling wine, is the first of a collection of quality wines, that opens up to the company this market as well.
1987 – Alexander brand. The new brand Alexander joins the old one Bottega. It is addressed to increasingly educated and refined consumers, including young people and women. Distilleria Bottega begun to export its goods.
1985 – Blown glass. The first blown glass bottle was produced. It is the innovative, precious and elegant packaging of grappa. This created a very close link to Venice that became an artistic and cultural point of reference.
1983 – Bottega Brothers. After the founder’s death, his son Sandro helped by his sister Barbara and his brother Stefano became the company’s president. A few years later Distilleria Bottega became well known thanks to an innovative distillation system and to the reduction of the alcohol content that makes grappa milder and finer.
1977 – Foundation of Distilleria Bottega. In 1977 Aldo Bottega moved his distillery to Pianzano di Godega (TV) and gave it its final name: Distilleria Bottega. At the end of the ‘70s it was a small company operating on the local market of grappa.
1950s and ‘60s – Aldo Bottega. Aldo Bottega shared his father’s passion and extended it also to grappa. He made a fruitful apprenticeship with the best master distillers in Conegliano. He learnt the secrets of a fascinating job and he then developed some innovative technical solutions among which the first single-variety grappa. His innate entrepreneurial spirit led him to set up his own distillery.
1920s – Domenico Bottega. Distilleria Bottega has a three-generation history of people dealing with wine and grappa behind itself. In the 1920s, Domenico Bottega was a wine trader. He was a passionate oenologist and was able to recognise the best grapes when still on the vine.
ROSINA ZAMBON BOTTEGA: FOUNDER OF DISTILLERIA BOTTEGA
Rosina Zambon Bottega passed away on December 12 2008.
A strong-willed and enterprising lady, she was born 68 years ago in Arborea in Sardinia, the daughter of Venetian immigrants who had settled on the island in the 1930s following the land reclamation projects of the Facist era.
In the 1960s, the family returned to the Veneto region and Rosina started to work for a distillery in the Conegliano area. Here she met Aldo Bottega who became her husband. Together with a partner, in 1967 they started their entrepreneurial adventure by taking over Distilleria Sartor. Ten years later, in 1977, they founded Distilleria Bottega, giving their name to a business that absorbed them both completely.
In 1983 after the premature death of her husband, Rosina found herself at a crossroads, but she did not lose heart. With courage and hard work, together with her 19-year-old son Sandro, she decided to keep on down the same road, albeit littered with difficulties. Very soon, her younger children Barbara and Stefano also became an integral part of what at the time was a small, family-run firm. All of them together, over the years, have contributed to the firm's constant and progressive growth, transforming Distilleria Bottega into a sturdy business of outstanding quality and innovation.
Rosina Zambon Bottega was an all-round entrepreneur, gifted with an out-of-the-ordinary spirit of initiative and great managerial skills. At first glance she could single out quality marc that would produce soft and fragranced grappa. She had a master distiller's sensitivity and felt at ease among the alembics, fascinated by the alchemic magic of the distillation process. Her taste for quality and beauty underlay the great many new distillates and innovative bottle packaging solutions that she created. Her direct and sincere manner always stood out for its balance of affection and authority. In recent years, a long illness had cut down the amount of time she spent in the company. Nevertheless, her love for the business brought her every so often, even very recently, to the new headquarters in Bibano di Godega, of which she was justly proud.
With the Alexander and Bottega brands, Rosina Zambon Bottega, known to most as Rosy, helped introduce grappa to various personalities in the world of show business. In short, the so-called VIPs, often capable of creating trends and influencing consumer habits.
Again with a view to promoting the company, she came up with the "Premio Bottega", a prize awarded periodically to a great name in art, cinema, literature, culture or sport thought to represent the talent, creativity and intelligence of our country more than any other. From a quiet beginning, over time theaward became a consolidated event. The first year the prize was a homage to Aldo Bottega, the founder of the distillery and man who made distilling an art. The subsequent awards carried the prestigious names of: Carlo Bo, Leone Piccioni, Bernardo Bertolucci, Ettore Scola, Alberto Sordi and Dino Zoff.
Rosina Zambon Bottega was linked by a long friendship to Al Bano Carrisi and Stefania Sandrelli. Together with her partner Giovanni Soldati, Ms Sandrelli dedicated the following words to her: "Rosina, a tender, fragile name, with a whiff of a smiling child. Living life with a smile, you tenaciously tackled things head on, with justice on your side. You had the instinct of a great woman, and were at the head of a wonderful family. With the support of love given and received, you knew you were a point of reference for everyone in your work and in your life. I still remember you sitting next to the great fireplace in the distillery, enthusiastically greeting me with fondness and good cheer…in all serenity. I bow before you and send you my final farewell."
