We feel responsible for ourselves and for future generations, and this is why each step we take has a relation with \u00a0all of these 17 points. [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In 2021, Bottega SpA obtained the Equalitas certification for the Bibano di Godega di Sant\u2019Urbano plants, where we produce white and ros\u00e9 sparkling wines; and for Valgatara and Montalcino, where we produce the red wines of the respective areas. New Photovoltaic System<\/h5>\n

Towards energy independence[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”number-description”]In December 2022, the new photovoltaic system, installed on the roof of the winery in Bibano (TV), started operation. The plant, which is manufactured in Italy, produces about 200 kwh, which represents about 40 per cent of the daily energy demand during daylight hours. In 2023, the plant was expanded with the goal of achieving energy independence during daylight hours.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”18431″ img_size=”841×669″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”middle”][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”10275″ img_size=”841×669″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Geothermal air-conditioning<\/h5>\n

The first important investment has been the geothermal air-conditioning system which taps into a source of natural energy by exploiting the heat of the earth. A hole was drilled on the company grounds to a depth of 90\/100 meters until an aquifer was reached where there was a constant temperature of 14\u00b0. The water was brought to the surface by means of an injection well and transferred to a heat-pump unit which transforms all the thermal energy, bringing the heating liquid to 36\u00b0 in winter and keeping it at 14\u00b0 in summer, so that the environment benefits from natural climate control and a pleasant sensation of well-being. The same water leaves the heating system and, via an ejection well, is returned to the earth so it is ready to be used again in this virtuous energy cycle. In conjunction with other alternative sources for electricity generation, geothermal energy leads to yearly savings of 756 tons of CO2 per annum.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Recirculation of water<\/h5>\n

7 million liters of water saved[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In 2014 a new water recirculation system was introduced into our distillery. The water used during the distillation process was air cooled by special fans and conveyed via a closed-loop system. This solution cuts back dramatically on water consumption for the whole process. Estimated savings stand at 7 million liters of water for each distillation year.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”10456″ img_size=”841×669″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”middle” el_class=”riga-inversa”][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”10262″ img_size=”841×669″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Water purification and industrial-waste treatment<\/h5>\n

Management of a daily organic load equal to 560 Kg of COD[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Being surrounded mainly by agricultural land, Bottega SpA took steps to protect the countryside and invested in two purification systems for waste-water and industrial-waste treatment.
\nThe first of the two is a plant-based sewage-treatment facility which allows for the disposal of waste water coming from bathrooms and kitchens. Filtered through a gravel substrate, the effluent provides sustenance to trees and shrubs planted in the surrounding land.
\nThe second system is an aerobic-based biological one using activated sludge which purifies and disposes of industrial waste (primarily lees, organic residue ensuing from the sparkling-wine distillation and production process as well as water used to clean the equipment). It has an average capacity of 70 m3\/g per day, hitting a maximum peak of 100 m3\/g per day, and is able to cope with a daily organic load of 560 Kg of COD. This kind of plant creates an artificial environment which mimics the same biological mechanisms put in place by Nature and purifies water polluted by biodegradable organic substances. The difference is essentially linked to performance because transformation occurs much more rapidly and occupies much less space.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”middle”][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Organically cultivated vineyards<\/h5>\n

We avoid the dissipation 1000 kg of synthetic chemicals[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The vineyards around the company in Bibano, in addition to those in Follina and Vittorio Veneto, correspond to 14.5 hectares and are cultivated according to the criteria of organic farming. It has therefore been banned the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, herbicides, GMOs and derivatives. On Bottega soils are used only fertilizers of organic origin that providing nutrients, improve the fertility and structure of the soil, avoiding the absorption of 1000 kg of synthetic chemicals every year.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”31625″ img_size=”841×669″ alignment=”center” css=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”middle”][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”16707″ img_size=”841×669″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Project Eno-Bee<\/h5>\n

Bees in the vineyard[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In May 2022, the company decided to put 300,000 bees into the Prosecco hills. It was a choice made in the name of sustainability as bees play a very important role in maintaining biodiversity. Their presence is also a thermometer to measure the healthiness of an area.
\nThe vineyard that houses the hives is part of a plot of property located in Vittorio Veneto, in an area that is partly wooded and characterized by great scenic beauty. Only Glera grapes, from which Prosecco originates, are grown here. Five hives with about 60,000 bees each were placed in this natural setting.<\/p>\n

After about 8 months with the harvested honey, a small limited edition production was made. Approximately 200 jars were given away to promote the Eno-Bee project on environmental protection and land health monitoring.
\nSpecifically, the honey produced in the Vittorio Veneto vineyard is a Summer Millefiori. This is a honey that is harvested in summer and has an amber color depending on the essences foraged.
\nBoth in taste and smell it is intense and pleasant with hints of flowers, cinnamon and orange.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”middle” el_class=”riga-inversa”][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

RafCycle Program<\/h5>\n

Tonnes of waste recycled each year[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In 2018, the company joined the RafCycle program, developed by UPM Raflatac (a global supplier of labelstock) to recover label waste. Using a technologically advanced process, silicon paper, used as a backing for labels, is recovered and sent to UPM’s paper mill in Platting (Germany), to be processed into new cellulose that can be used as is or become paper. The resulting raw cellulose can be used, for example, in padding for building insulation, replacing the use of fiberglass. Polyethylene recycling<\/h5>\n

16 tonnes recovered per year[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, since 2021 Bottega has started recycling the polyethylene used by glassworks to package empty bottles (RE.WIND Project).
\nThis material will then be turned into stretch film to seal pallets of finished products.
\nIn 2022 we recovered about 16 tons (over 70 kg per day), used for the more than 35,000 pallets of finished products throughout our company.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”middle” el_class=”riga-inversa”][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Sustainable labels<\/h5>\n

For the protection of the oceans[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Bottega, a company that has always been sensitive to issues of environmental sustainability, has decided to use innovative labels for its wines made from 90% recycled plastic from the oceans. After being retrieved from the sea, the plastic is recycled so that it can then be used again.<\/p>\n

In addition, for small-format bottles, we use sleeves, a special type of tubular labels that cover the bottles, made from 30% recycled plastic from the collection of household plastic waste.<\/p>\n

Green manure technique<\/h5>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]To promote soil fertility in a natural way, we use the technique of green manure.
\nThis technique involves the planting of essences that, near flowering, are incorporated into the soil. The supply of nutrients into the soil is thus done in a totally mechanical and natural way, without the use of synthetic products.
\nIn our vineyards we sow mainly vetch, clover and mustard, some of the most widely used varieties for green manure. The Bottega Forest – A breath for the Planet<\/em><\/h5>\n

On November 21, 2025, on Tree Day<\/strong>, Bottega began its collaboration with Treedom<\/strong> <\/a>to create the Bottega Forest<\/strong>. 500 trees<\/strong> were planted in Ecuador, Tanzania, and Madagascar, contributing to reforestation and the restoration of precious ecosystems.<\/p>\n

This initiative reflects our concrete commitment to sustainability: respect for the environment has always been a core value of our company, which combines tradition and responsibility. Protecting nature is essential for us, for the well-being of people today and future generations.<\/p>\n

Treedom is the first platform that allows you to plant trees remotely and follow the history of projects online. Since 2010, it has been implementing agroforestry projects that generate environmental, social, and economic benefits: trees protect the soil, preserve biodiversity, and absorb CO\u2082, while their fruits support local communities, improving nutrition, income, and promoting micro-entrepreneurship initiatives.<\/p>\n

Packaging<\/h5>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The concept of recycling also influences our choices in packaging for which we use environmentally friendly materials.
\nThe dark bottles we use are made from 85 percent to 95 percent recycled glass. In fact, glass can be recycled without affecting its quality.<\/p>\n

The paint used for our metallic bottles is water-based, which means we do not use chemical solvents.<\/p>\n

In addition, Bottega uses only FSC Mix certified cardboard. This level, indicates that the wood or paper in the certified product comes from: FSC certified material, recycled material and\/or controlled wood. The latter is a separate category: although not FSC certified, controlled wood cannot be harvested illegally, in violation of traditional rights and indigenous peoples.<\/p>\n

The design of our products also makes them reusable objects. Social engagement<\/h5>\n

The Spirit of Peace Project<\/em>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Peace is absolutely the most precious good for humanity. From Hiroshima, the capital of peace that has suffered the devastating effects of the demon of war on its own skin, a message of brotherhood to the whole world departs.<\/p>\n

Bottega picked it up and, in 2015 (the 70th anniversary of the Japanese city’s nuclear tragedy), wanted to show its support for the ongoing work to promote peace and nuclear disarmament in the world.<\/p>\n

From this awareness was born \u201cPeace for Hiroshima,\u201d a blown-glass bottle of schnapps that reproduces a white dove inside, a symbol of peace. One million yen, proceeds from the sales of this product, was donated by Sandro Bottega to the city of Hiroshima to fund peace initiatives.<\/p>\n

A year later, \u201cHiroshima for World Peace\u201d was created, a package that contains, in addition to the grappa described above, a bottle of sparkling Venezia Doc, named \u201cPeace for the World.\u201d
\nThe project further evolved into the \u201cSpirit of Peace\u201d exhibition: a display of blown-glass bottles and objects created ad hoc to convey a message of peace. A white dove was chosen as the exhibition’s symbol and logo because it ideally unites Hiroshima with the world, in homage to the Japanese tradition of releasing dozens of these birds into the air on August 6 each year.<\/p>\n

The \u201cSpirit of Peace\u201d project was carried out in partnership with the Hiroshima City Municipality and with the full support of Mayor Kazumi Matsui. It was first exhibited in 2017 at three prestigious Japanese venues: MOCA Museum (Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art), Hiroshima Museum of Art, Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”18px”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”5270″ img_size=”841×669″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”10226″ img_size=”841×669″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Charity balls<\/h5>\n

Hong Kong and Toronto[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Each year Bottega provides various charity events with financial support and this especially applies to the Charity Balls of Hong Kong and Toronto to help respectively the children from the Po Leung Kuk Institute and the elderly of Italian extraction helped by the Villa Charity association.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Breast Health International<\/h5>\n

International no-profit foundation[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Company is highly aware of the importance of research into breast cancer. For some years, it donated 1 euro for each bottle of the Vino dei Poeti Ros\u00e9 sold on the duty-free channel to the Breast-Health International association. This international no-profit foundation works with top experts from all over the world to find a cure for breast cancer. Thanks to the Fund-for-Living, BHI is able to offer all women suffering from breast cancer the tools they need to enjoy the best possible quality of life.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”18px”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”10250″ img_size=”841×669″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”18434″ img_size=”841×669″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Prevention is the best medicine<\/h5>\n

Partnership with Villa Salus[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In order to offer its employees concrete support in the area of prevention, Bottega has initiated a collaboration with the Villa Salus Hospital in Mestre. Employees will have the possibility of free screening for the prevention of breast cancer and prostate cancer.<\/p>\n

In addition, a doctor will be available at the company for check-ups and ECGs.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Wish for Japan<\/h5>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In 2011 Bottega lent its support to the charity initiative of the employees of the Shangri-La hotel chain to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami which struck Japan that same year. To commemorate the occasion, a completely white bottle of sparkling wine was created which bore the logo WISH for Japan as well as a red dot in reference to the Japanese flag.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”10252″ img_size=”841×669″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”10254″ img_size=”841×669″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Bere Bene (Drink Properly)<\/h5>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Various research projects led to the launch of an education campaign in the 90s which ran under the slogan \u201cDrinking properly is good for you\u201d. In 2007 Bottega started to distribute alcohol tests amongst its customer in order to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking too much.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”18px”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Braille<\/h5>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In partnership with the Italian Union for the Blind, Bottega has produced its first brochures and labels in Braille – a trailblazing step in the wine and alcohol sector.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”10256″ img_size=”841×669″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”10342″ img_size=”841×669″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Millennium for Peace<\/h5>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Set up in conjunction with the International Center for Peace amongst People at Assisi, this project used the sale of bottles of grappa to help finance the sponsorship of African children.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”18px”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”number-txt”]<\/p>\n

Aid for Asia<\/h5>\n

\nBottega has always believed in the values of Slow Food, in their projects for the protection of quality, typicality and in their sustainability project; for this reason we have decided to undertake a path to carry on the values in which we commonly believe.
\nThe Slow Food Foundation’s projects are tools that promote a model of agriculture based on local biodiversity, respect for the land and local culture, involving thousands of small producers and guaranteeing them technical assistance, training and communication.
