{"id":322,"count":6,"description":"<h2>A winery, the story of two families<\/h2>\r\nThe history of Bottega in Valpolicella is intertwined with that of another family with a long winemaking tradition: the Boscaini family. In the early 20th century, the Boscaini family purchased an estate in Valgatara, which had previously belonged to the family of Count Nuvoloni. Since then, several generations have followed one another, leading up to Enzo Franco and his son Leonardo. When Leonardo\u2019s turn came, however, he was still too young to take charge of the business. Bottega therefore acquired the winery, whilst preserving the family spirit that animates it. Today, Leonardo is in charge of the Valgatara winery and carries on the family tradition in a region rich in history and culture.\r\n<h2>A region with a long winemaking tradition<\/h2>\r\nValpolicella has been dedicated to vine cultivation since ancient times: its name derives from the Latin \u2018val polis cellae\u2019, which means, in fact, \u2018valley of many cellars\u2019. This splendid hilly region lies a few kilometres north of Verona, not far from Lake Garda. It stretches across the hills at the foot of the Veronese Pre-Alps and is characterised by its longitudinal valleys, a topography that is highly conducive to the movement of air masses along the slopes, resulting in a climate very similar to that of the Mediterranean.\r\n<h2>The native grape varieties of Valpolicella<\/h2>\r\nThe native varieties grown here have, over the centuries, enabled the production of outstanding red wines, characterised by great originality and regional distinctiveness. Corvina Veronese is characterised by its freshness, Corvinone by its smoothness, and Molinara by its acidity. Furthermore, the Rondinella and Corvina grapes are particularly well-suited to drying, a characteristic recognised and valued by the region\u2019s winemakers.\r\n<h2>Bottega Wines<\/h2>\r\nAt our winery in Valgatara, we produce five wines: Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG and Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG, the finest red wine from Valpolicella and one of Italy\u2019s most prestigious wines; Ripasso Valpolicella DOC Superiore, whose winemaking technique makes it unique on the Italian wine scene; the Valpolicella Classico DOC and the Valpolicella Classico DOC Superiore,
