Bottega Spa is proud to announce its new role as official sponsor of the Compagnia de Calza, a historic Venetian institution that has celebrated Venice’s traditions, culture, and performing arts for centuries. This partnership strengthens the link between business and cultural heritage, highlighting the rich history and traditions of the Serenissima.

The Compagnia de Calza was founded in the mid-16th century by a group of Venetian nobles under the motto “Divertire Divertendosi” (“Entertain While Enjoying”). Today, it brings together Venetian families, by birth or adoption, who organize annual festivals and performances that honor the city’s traditions. The institution takes inspiration from the historic companies of the 15th and 16th centuries. Those groups staged spectacular events for the Venetian Republic, called “momarie e demonstrationi”, featuring temporary theaters, elaborate stage machinery, and the collaboration of renowned poets, actors, and architects.

The name “Compagnia de Calza” comes from the tradition of members wearing colorful socks to distinguish their group from others. The Compagnia de Calza “I Antichi”, recognizable by its red, gold, and purple colors, was revived in 1979 by twenty-five Venetian families. Since then, it has preserved authentic popular and cultural traditions while reinterpreting the spirit of contemporary Venice, deeply rooted in its history.

Through this collaboration, Bottega Spa reaffirms its commitment to initiatives that promote tradition, art and high-quality entertainment.
